I get asked everyday, every cotton-picking day, what are the legitimate at-home positions and the details of those work from home offers. To save myself time (and I'm a time management kind of gal) here is the listings that I can guarantee because I have either worked these online companies or know someone who has:
1. oDesk: Click the magic oDesk icon here on my blog to see for yourself. You will list yourself as available for whatever type of work you wish to offer a client. The types of jobs you can do for an online client are virtually endless. Are you a computer guru, programmer, or developer? Or, are you a Customer Service Rep, Telemarketing Agent, Bookkeeper or Accountant? Clients will search through a database and select you after reading your profile so I always suggest working long and hard to spice up your profile keeping it honest and straight to the point. oDesk does not charge a fee for providers, rather oDesk buyers pay a percentage of your fee to oDesk for helping them locate a candidate. It's really very simple. Read through their help features online and see for yourself. Don't be a lazy-bones. After all working from home isn't easy. It requires dedication and determination.
2. LiveOps: Liveops is awesome. It does require a background check and fee but it is a legit company that truly offers 24/7 time slots for you to choose your own and very flexible schedule. www.liveops.com is their site. Browse the site and see for yourself. There are simple requirements that any at home company maintains. Obviously you have to have a fast running and capable computer system, DSL or Cable Modem (no dial up and no satellite), and a desk phone that you can plug a headset into (you can get one from Radio Shack). Some companies require you to have a Skype account and a computer headset. This is very different from a wired phone and headset. A wired phone is your land line with analog services meaning no call waiting none or none of the other extras, just a plain ol' land line phone that's it!! Of course with liveops and any other company you will need to do a voice audition so get your friendliest, most professional phone voice ready so that you can start working taking inbound orders from info-mercials and then then some.
3. West At Home: www.westathome.com is much like liveops. At West At Home you will be taking calls to your land line. The calls coming in will be primarily orders from ad's that run on the television. The only difference from West at Home and Liveops is that West at Home does not charge a background check fee but they do a background check nevertheless.
4. www.westat.com: Westat is a company that hires at home workers to do surveys and other customer service duties. Rather than be a contractor (like oDesk, Liveops, or West At Home) you will be an actual employee whereby the company will take out with holdings, etc. from your payroll. Some find this to be a big advantage.
5. www.acddirect.com: ACD direct is a legit company working with contractors who will be taking pledges from the many Public Television and Radio sponcers nationwide. ACD is a good company. Their biggest months are March and December where most stations do their huge pledge drives. There are other months that are good too but these are the best. Right now ACD offers primarily part-time work but it's rather easy work talking to nice people who are offering money gifts to these TV and Radio stations. It doesn't get better than that!!
